An interview with Camino al Sol Radio in the Dominican Republic.<\/i><\/p>\n

The United Nations General Assembly, in Resolution 73\/329, declared 5 April the International Day of Conscience<\/a>. To mark the occasion, CMI’s directors \u2014 founding president Rafael Garc\u00eda and vice-president and co-founder Nilsa M\u00e1rmol \u2014 were interviewed by the team at Camino al Sol Radio.<\/p>\n

The United Nations notes that the day is \u201ca means of regularly mobilising the efforts of the international community to promote peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding and solidarity, so as to build a sustainable world of peace, solidarity and harmony\u201d.<\/p>\n

In that spirit, Rafael Garc\u00eda explained that \u201cthe Conscious Management Institute (CMI) is a business school with a particular focus on corporate social responsibility and sustainability in business and in organisations of every kind\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe think values should be at the foundation of any organisation<\/strong>, which is why all our postgraduate programmes place that emphasis on values \u2014 not only on growing and achieving great results, but on how we achieve them, which is what matters. That is why we place so much emphasis on these aspects, which cut across every company and every sector. Those values should be what drives solidarity, peace and harmony in societies.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201c(\u2026) companies increasingly have to move towards that responsible, conscious leader who is not authoritarian<\/strong>, and there is plainly a growing worldwide movement towards conscience, because we are getting companies and senior managers to put this kind of management in place,\u201d<\/em> said Nilsa M\u00e1rmol, CMI’s co-founder.<\/p>\n

Study grants for Latin America<\/b><\/p>\n

On widening access to education and creating more opportunity, Nilsa M\u00e1rmol spoke about CMI’s participation in significant study grant schemes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are taking part for the second consecutive year through the international scholarship programme of the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT)<\/strong>. But there are also people who, for various reasons \u2014 age, academic record \u2014 cannot apply for those grants, and we encourage them to apply through our own scholarship programmes for outstanding students<\/strong>, where age does not count but academic marks do, or for students from emerging economies, as the Dominican Republic and various Latin American countries obviously are,\u201d<\/em> M\u00e1rmol explained, adding: \u201cwe also award grants to people with a disability<\/strong> who already hold a university qualification\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n
