He is an Agricultural Engineer with a double Master’s degree in Water Resources, a specialisation in Environmental and Natural Resource Management, and a PhD in Environmental Sciences: Water Resources and Aquatic Ecosystems.
His professional career has developed in the field of water and environmental management, and more recently in climate change, knowledge management, corporate social responsibility and the third sector, through consultancy, public administration, university teaching and research, and international development cooperation.
His doctoral research (Cum Laude) focused on access to water as a strategy to reduce poverty in rural areas under different probable climate change scenarios. The conceptual framework of this study was inspired by the Millennium Development Goals (precursors to the Sustainable Development Goals) and incorporated a Gender and Human Rights approach.
Regarding his research activity, he highlights his participation in the TRAGUA Project, led by IMDEA Water, characterised by the coordination of multiple institutions and experts around a common research initiative.
In terms of activism, he has been involved with Amnesty International in defence of Human Rights, including issues such as the right to a healthy environment and climate refugees, within the framework of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
His professional profile combines his technical foundation as an engineer with the socio-economic perspective of his doctoral training, complemented by academic and practical experience in international development cooperation.
