Professional Experience

Ramón is an Industrial Engineer and PhD in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, as well as holding a Master’s in Gastronomic Tourism from the Basque Culinary Center.

His research focuses on two main areas:
– The creation and development of entrepreneurial initiatives, both profit-oriented and socially driven. He has studied different business models, their business development and the measurement of their performance.
– Corporate sustainability from a triple bottom line perspective and the measurement of organisations’ impact on society. Quantitative analysis is a key tool for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
In 2009, he analysed in Bangladesh the business models of various social enterprises within the Grameen Group founded by Muhammad Yunus. Since then, he has participated in numerous acceleration projects for entrepreneurial initiatives across different sectors (agriculture, energy, technology, tourism) and contexts (Europe, Latin America and Africa). In 2013, he carried out a research stay at the Global Social Benefit Incubator at Santa Clara University (California, United States).
He has worked in the industrial sector from different perspectives: as a consultant at SinCeO2, where he led energy optimisation projects, and at ACCIONA, where he worked in the Corporate Sustainability Department, delivering training projects and impact measurement initiatives.
In the academic field, he was a lecturer in the Department of Business Administration at the School of Industrial Engineers of the Polytechnic University of Madrid between 2009 and 2016. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Entrepreneurship, SME Management, Business Acceleration, and The Company and its Environment.
Since 2013, he has also been a lecturer in two master’s programmes:
– The International Master in Industrial Management (IMIM) at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, where he teaches Small and Medium Enterprise Management.
– The Master in Management (MIM) at ESCP Europe, where he teaches Social Entrepreneurship.
He has also been invited as a visiting lecturer in international master’s programmes (Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia).
