Introduction
Graduate in Mathematics from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Executive Master’s in Quantitative Finance from the Escuela de Finanzas Aplicadas and Master’s in Telecommunications and Information Technology Management from the Escuela de Organización Industrial. He has worked at the CNMV since 1998, where he is responsible for the authorisation and supervision activities related to EMIR obligations.

Miguel Ángel Herrero Alvite holds a degree in Mathematics from the Autonomous University of Madrid, an Executive Master’s in Quantitative Finance from the Escuela de Finanzas Aplicadas and a Master’s in Telecommunications and Communication Technologies Management from the Escuela de Organización Industrial. He also holds the CFA designation from the CFA Institute and the FRM certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
He has worked at the CNMV since 1998, where he has held various positions. He is currently responsible for the authorisation and supervision of EMIR (European Market Infrastructure Regulation) obligations within the Secondary Markets Department. He also performs advisory tasks and participates in the development of regulatory policies applicable to derivatives markets and market infrastructures. He coordinates the activities of the supervisory college of the Spanish central counterparty BME Clearing and the CNMV’s participation in other supervisory colleges of EU central counterparties.
In the past, he has carried out duties related to the monitoring of securities markets, listed companies and trading participants, the review of market infrastructure functioning, the review of regulatory projects related to Spanish securities markets, and the analysis, valuation and risk assessment of financial instruments.

Post-Trading Standing Committee / CCP PC and SC: ESMA standing committees responsible for drafting regulation in the field of post-trading and central counterparties (CCPs).
International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO):
Committee 7 on Derivatives: IOSCO standing committee where regulatory issues related to derivatives and commodities markets are discussed.
CPMI-IOSCO
Participation in the Steering Group, the standing group that directs CPMI-IOSCO activities.
European Commission / European Council
Member of national expert groups advising the European Commission and the European Council on matters related to derivatives and market infrastructures, and support to the CNMV’s representation in these forums on issues related to MiFID, MiFIR, MAD, MAR, etc.
Technical Committee of Regulators of the MIBEL.
Support to the Technical Committee of Regulators of the Iberian Electricity Market.
International cooperation projects.
He has served as advisor to the Colombian Superintendence of Securities as an expert in market abuse regulation and supervision under the USAID Colombia Productiva project, and as advisor to the Colombian Financial Superintendence as an expert in central counterparties under the USAID MIDAS project.
