Madrid, 8 June 2026.
The academic community of CMI Higher Education had the privilege of watching at close quarters as His Holiness Pope Leo XIV made his official procession through the historic centre of Madrid on Monday 8 June.
The location of the CMI Higher Education campus, in the very heart of Madrid, meant that students, lecturers and administrative staff were able to share in a rare and historic moment, watching the Holy Father pass only a few metres from our building.
His Holiness’s visit drew thousands of people onto the streets of Madrid, turning the city centre into a meeting point for the faithful, for visitors and for media from around the world. Thanks to its position, CMI Higher Education stood directly on one of the stretches of the Pontiff’s official route, giving our community a unique opportunity to witness the occasion first hand.
Our campus lies roughly 700 metres from Almudena Cathedral, close to some of the city’s best-known landmarks such as the Puerta de Toledo and the Royal Palace — a strategic setting that places our institution among the principal historic, cultural and institutional monuments of Madrid.
Pope Leo XIV’s presence so close to our campus underlines just how central the setting is in which our students’ academic life unfolds: they study at an institution located in one of the most representative and vibrant parts of the city.
At CMI Higher Education we are delighted to have shared this historic moment with our community, and we reaffirm our commitment to offering an international academic experience in an exceptional setting.
The visit of His Holiness Leo XIV will undoubtedly stay in the memory of every member of the CMI community who was able to watch him pass through the streets of the Spanish capital, on a day marked by emotion, by a sense of closeness and by the historic significance of the occasion.
